Padraig Gorman

Padraig Gorman from Carrowmore, Lavagh, has a remarkable record of service to the GAA. Padraig won county Minor (1957), Junior (1957, 1968) and Senior (1958) Football Championship medals with Mullinabreena and a Connacht Colleges Senior Football Championship medal with St. Nathy’s College, Ballaghaderreen (1959).

He went on to be a prominent inter-county referee and officiated at a number of County and Connacht finals in all grades. He served as County Board Chairman (1979-1981), as a member of Central Council (1982-1988) and County Board Development Officer (1984-1988). He was elected President of the Connacht Council (1991-1993). During that three year term, he was also a Vice-President of the GAA and a member of the Central Management Committee in Croke Park. Padraig continues his GAA involvement as an active member of Markievicz Park Committee.
