D1 R1: Drumcliffe/Rosses Point 1.12  Coolaney/Mullinabreena 0.15

On a cold clear evening in Oxfield, Drumcliffe, the Coolaney/Mullinabreena Senior team got their league campaign off to a satisfying, albeit frustrating start with a draw against Drumcliffe/Rosses Point.

The team started well, with points from Cristeoir Davey and Raymond Connolly kick starting the attack, and lead to a barrage of scores in the first quarter, with points from C. Davey, Barry Gorman, Declan McCormack, Daniel Davey and the ever reliable Raymond Connolly from a free kick. At one stage, the team were 7 points to 1 ahead and looked like kicking on to a comfortable win.

However, D/RP fired back in the second quarter of action and, aided by the free taking prowess of Paul Logan, scored 1-06 before the half, leaving the score at 1-06 to 0-10 at the break. In the second half, it was more of the same for the North Sligo men who converted their chances clinically and were ahead for much of the half. Yet the experience of the C/M men kept the score board ticking over, with Connolly providing much needed scores from dead balls. As the game neared its conclusion, one point behind, Connolly stepped up to knock over the equalizing point.

All in all the Coolaney/Mullinabreena team can be happy with a solid point away from home.  Final Score: D/RP 1-12  C/M 0-15
