Back 02/10/2020 @ 16:48 | Junior B Final 27 Sept

Well done to our Junior B Team who drew with St. Farnan’s in the Junior B Final on Sunday.  It was a very intense affair form start to the finish with St. Farans controlling the first 20 minutes and chalking up an impressive lead.

Our team came back from 1-08 lead to secure a draw and get another opportunity to gain the title

The game took place in perfect conditions in Markievicz Park, both teams lined out as in the program with no changes. St Farnan’s opened the game with a point and Paul Connolly scored a point for Coolaney/Mullinabreena directly after. That was our only score till before water break when Brain Marren scored a great point and somehow this seemed to reawaken the team and got them back into the game score wise.

St Farnan’s had scored an impressive 1-09 at this stage and looked to be on to way to bringing home the cup.

Spirit of the Coolaney/Mullinabreena Team worked its magic and they added another 4 points to the score board before half time, 3 points contributed from Matt Conlon and a point from Alan Duggan.

Half time score: Coolaney/Mullinabreena 0-06 1-11 St. Farnan’s

Coolaney/Mullinabreena sprung into action with both Alan Duggan and Matt Conlon sending over another two points each leaving the goal between the teams. St. Farnan’s hadn’t scored in the second half sent a point over before the water break giving a score line of  Coolaney/Mullinabreena 0-11 1-12 St. Farnan’s

Directly after the brief break Matt Conlon pointed again staying close to our opponents. St. Farnan’s did not give easily and effortlessly put over another two points.

Coolaney/Mullinabreena pushed on and dropped the ball into the goal mouth into a sea of St. Farnan’s men, Sean Doyle also being near hand somehow the ball went in and Coolaney/Mullinabreena got the goal they so badly needed. The atmosphere in Markievicz was electric at this stage both sides being so close.

In the dying minutes our great team rallied on with Paul Connolly scoring a much needed point and Lorcan Callaghan converting the free that provided his teammates another run at the cup.

Both sides took away alot of learning’s from the game, Coolaney/Mullinabreena showed great determination and heart overall as alot of other teams would not have been able to come back .

Everyone displayed great work rate and played well especially Brian Marren, Alan Duggan, Keith Kirrane and Matt Conlon.
